The Summer Newsletter

Aug 2019

It has been an exciting six months for the BFC Fashion Trust. As part of our newsletter, we would like to thank you for your continued interest and support nurturing creative talent and share some highlights of the wonderful things we’ve accomplished throughout the year.

From January’s Q&A with sustainability champion, Gabriela Hearst, in conversation with Business of Fashion editor-at-large, Tim Blanks, to June’s star studded fireside talk with Oscar-winning actress turned CEO, Gwyneth Paltrow and British Vogue Editor in Chief, Edward Enninful OBE, this year has seen some brilliant events.

Commencing the full packed schedule, January saw fellow Fashion Trust supporter Anna Sweeting lead a round table, discussing ways of securing investment as a young start up. Just in time for London Fashion Week, Fashion Trust patron Sofia Barattieri co-hosted an intimate lunch at the Design Museum celebrating Mary Katrantzou’s 10th Anniversary. We also had the privilege of visiting the V&A for a private tour of Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams with the exhibition’s curator.

In March, serial entrepreneur Sahar Hashemi OBE gave an empowering speech about what it takes to be a founder, followed by the annual BFC Fashion Trust private order event. In April, McKinsey shared insights from their The State of Fashion 2019 report and fellow Fashion Trust supporter Ghizlan Guenez, Founder and CEO of The Modist, spoke about launching the world’s first modest luxury e-commerce platform.

May was an important month as the Fashion Trust Advisory Committee came together with high profile industry judges to select the seven recipients of the 2019 Grants, announced during a fantastic dinner hosted by Fashion Trust Founder Patron, Megha Mittal. The Fashion Trust allocated £400,000 to the 2019 Grant Recipients.

Later in the month, British Fashion Council Chair, Stephanie Phair, and CEO, Caroline Rush, shared an overview of the BFC's role, mission and purpose, highlighting how Fashion Trust supporters contribute and play a key part in the organisation.

Again, we would like to thank you for your continued support and hope you will enjoy scrolling through some of the highlights below – make sure you click through to the website to see more! We look forward to seeing you again in September for the start of another exciting programme.

Have a lovely summer!
